1月25日，法王噶瑪巴回到菩提迦耶參加西藏佛教傳統之一的祈願大法會。此祈願大法會是尊貴的達賴喇嘛為最近南亞海嘯之蒙難者及為一切眾生祈求世界和平而召集的。

祈願大法會當天，尊貴的達賴喇嘛以午宴款待貴賓。由卡隆崔巴桑東仁波切（Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche）和卡蘇洛帝加里（Kasur Lodi Gyari）先生報告最近藏政府和中國政府對話情形。貴賓除了法王之外，宗教界的領導者包括：貝諾仁波切（Penor Rinpoche）、薩迦崔欽（Sakya Trizin）、直貢澈贊仁波切（Drikung Chetsang Rinpoche）、敏林崔千仁波切（Menri Trizin Rinpoche）、簡哲確戒仁波切（Jangtse Choeje Rinpoche）、夏哲 確戒仁波切（Shartse Choeje Rinpoche）、楚息仁波切（Trulshig Rinpoche）、林仁波切（Ling Rinpoche）和達隆夏祖仁波切（Taklung Shabdrung Rinpoche）。

His Holiness Dalai Lama, His Holiness Sakya Trizen and His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa and eminent leaders of all the main lineages of Tibet gathered in Bodhgaya to offer prayers for peace in the world. On January 25th, the assembled religious leaders made prayers and offerings in front of the renowned image of Buddha Sakyamuni in the Mahabodhi Temple, which commemorates the place where the Buddha attained enlightenment. The ceremony aspiring for world peace for all beings marked the end of the Tibetan year. His Holiness Karmapa returned to his temporary camp in Gyuto on the 29th.
